Creating Need is “ Competitive Advantage”:
In few years, market has changed drastically. People used to buy what they need, now a day’s market use to create the need & people buy created need.
Every established brand is known for its products & services & both are highly interrelated to human resources of that company which creates the competitive advantage for them.
Once the founder of IBM Thomson J.Watson commented "you get capital & erect building but it takes people to build business".
Customer Next Who is First then:
The best example is South West airlines made its first flight in 1971 & crossed the billion dollar revenue. It has gained profit 36 consecutive year including 2001 when terrorist attacked to U.S. So there is a catch that what is the reason behind the success of south west airline- at South West employees come first not the customer.
According to the Vice President Ann Rhoades " we try
to hire people who are fun, we want to be sure that they are going to be
comfortable and our customers too with them".
Does Boundary still exist:
Now a days HR plays its role out of the boundaries as it has become a source of strength.
HR created that "plus value" to the organization by hiring the best talent that actually fullfills the gap between reality and expectations.
Cadbury India_ Well known organization the HR Manager statement some up the company's philosophy "we believe that the day you stop enjoying work is the day you stop contributing. We make people stretch with a smile the company believe that a smile a day keeps the market blues away".
"HR Strategy+ Human Capital"
In any organization, the most important aspect is HR strategy & human capital of that organization because only it can convert "capital+building+idea+resources+strategy" into a process as a competitive organization.
competitive advantage is all about contributing towards
service & adding value with zeal of becoming long run player
"if you are not thinking all the time making every person valuable you don't have a chance " said by General Electric's head Jack Welch

“Competitive advantage demands a low possibility of substitution”
Dell has a competitive edge over its rivals arising out of its exceptional ability to create a direct selling E-commerce channel that is highly responsive to customer.
So far any organization, whether is its big or small using almost similar technologies in these days the only thing which can differentiate them from each other their most valued resource "human" which is become an asset in today's scenario.
Assets +Investment=CA
So its not a big deal to achieve competitive advantage , if human capital is used as asset not as an liability & invest on them for getting high quality output by hiring right resource & providing them proper training.
As Disney theme park still cherish their craze & often questioned as having a competitive advantage in friendly smiling employees.
