Be ready for out of the box questions, if
planning for a Career not for a Job
In an ever changing scenario not only the
job and organisational culture have changed but also the hiring process. Traditional hiring is no more in trend. Straight questions followed by simple
answers may may get you a job but not a promising career anymore.
Traditional Questions:
Why did you choose MBA?
Where do you see yourself in 5 yrs?
What are your strengths and weaknesses?
Why should we hire you?
What are your hobbies?
I strongly believe that most of us must have faced 3 of the above 5 questions during our very first interview.
Why modern companies are using the new approach?
Today companies are looking for
long term players who can serve the company well as well as justify their roles on each bumps. For acquiring such talent, we cannot fallow the
traditional way of hiring.
Also, recruiters needs to create a pool
through every possible way along with the right way of evaluation as a high priority.
New Pattern of hiring:
New approach compels the candidates
to think outside the box as well as proves the capability of the candidates.
Asking random not familiar questions increases
the stress level and checks a candidate's proactive response in a perceived situation.
Companies
like Google and Facebook not only create a healthy work environment
for their chosen talent but also they pick their resources very carefully. As per one survey Google
receives one million resumes in a year but only less than 0.5% are considered for hiring.
Set
of questions:
Here is a new set of questions if you are
planning to approach such companies -
· If you were an animal; what would you be and why?
· What is the least proud point in your resume?
· What motivates you to get out
of bed in the morning?
· One word which describes your
personality?
· How would you handle correcting
a mistake that your manager made?
· How would you distribute 1000 potatoes in 10 baskets?
These are the examples only. You are
planning to approach a company like Google, Facebook, MNCs, be ready to think
beyond the boundary.
